Success or Failure?
After the Clivil War ended, whites and blacks made it their mission to reunite families separated by slavery, have a better economy and demanded equal civil rights and political rights. The most difficult part in America was trying to regain the economy. The Southerners had to come up with a new economy for former slaves. This was very hard because many former slaves had little/no education and most of them spent their whole lives working as planters, but with Freedmen's Bureau it became much easier. For black children who were slaves, they were able to decide whether to go to school for a better education or to work. Adults most likely got a job to support their family. When Congress put the 14th and 15th Amendment to the Constitution, it guaranteed blacks' civil rights and their right to vote.
When the North and the South came together to work on repairing the economy after the Civil War, it was a success. This was a success because of both the long-term and the immediate impacts to the U.S. One of the Immediate Impacts taken to rebuild the economy was the Freedman's Bureau. This gave a great advantage for the recently freed slaves so that they could get employed and have a better education. Although this organization did not last very long, it still helped the former slaves to get back to a normal life.
This reconstruction era was also a success because of the longterm impacts. Part of the Reconstruction was a new form of US paper money. This part of the Reconstruction was a huge success since we still use this form of money today. Having a new form of money helped the United States' economy very much and helped to bring people from all parts of the world to America. When Industrialization came into the picture, for America the economy was booming because of the new factories and the jobs that it created for people. Once people from other countries noticed all the opportunties that America had to offer, many immigrants came for a better life. This impact boosted America into a better place and a country that everyone wanted to be in. The longterm impacts made this Reconstruction Era a huge success.
